our history

how it all began

In 2006, multi-media personality, Rashan Ali founded Sporty Girls Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia to provide girls between the ages of 8-18 the opportunity to participate in swimming, soccer, tennis, and golf. A life-long competitive swimmer and recipient of a four-year swimming scholarship to Florida A & M University, Rashan knew she wanted that same opportunity afforded to girls in and around the metro Atlanta area. Coupled with that, it was her goal to help cultivate their life skills.

get girls sporty

From 2008-2016, Sporty Girls, Inc. implemented unique programming that served over 1,000 girls. Those programs included Sporty Tract To Scholarship, Sporty Clinics and Get Girls Sporty. Under the umbrella of The Sporty Tract To Scholarship Program, Camp Elite and Sporty Saturdays were created.

camp elite

Camp Elite was an annual, week-long, overnight camp that gave up to 40 girls, who were competitive in their concentrated sport, the opportunity to experience life as a collegiate student-athlete. Upon completion of Camp Elite, participants transitioned into the monthly Sporty Saturday sessions-where girls would have in depth peer development along with physical activity. Each athlete was required to participate in a year-round program in their concentrated sport. Their progress was tracked and documented between their respective coaches and Sporty Girls, Inc.

sporty clinics

SGI’s Sporty Clinics were dedicated to one sport per clinic and gave up to 25 girls the chance to learn more about that particular sport in a small, intimate setting. The wildly popular Get Girls Sporty was a bi-annual, all-day field day event that gave girls from all skill levels the chance to participate and learn more about all the sports Sporty Girls, Inc. offered. In 2013, lacrosse was introduced at Get Girls Sporty and it quickly became a favorite. Sporty Girls, Inc. continued its tremendous programming through 2016.

reloaded

After a brief hiatus to RELOAD, SGI is back with new programming and new goals! Rashan Ali, along with the Board of Directors are excited about the growth and new direction of Sporty Girls, Inc. and its future.
